Boards, cards and views
One board, three ways to look at it. This is the reference for what a card carries, how to narrow a busy board down to what matters, and the calendar and timeline layouts underneath the same cards.
What a card carries
A card has a title, an optional description, a priority, a due date, an estimate, any number of assignees and labels, a checklist, comments, and attachments. None of it is required beyond a title — add the rest when it will change a decision, not because the field exists.
- Quick capture (the “c” shortcut, or the button on the Inbox) creates a card fast, with just a title, so nothing gets lost while you decide where it belongs.
- Priority runs none, low, medium, high, urgent, and drives Mission Mode's ranking and the priority sort on the board.
- An estimate is in minutes and feeds Mission Mode's daily capacity math — how many cards actually fit in the time you have.
- A card can be blocked, which is a state you set deliberately, not something inferred. It shows up as its own filter and its own Mission Mode signal.
Labels
Labels are per workspace and shared across every project in it. Create one from a card, and Tarsen picks the least-used colour in the workspace automatically, so a run of new labels doesn't all land on the same colour by accident — pick a specific one instead if you want to match something.
Renaming or recolouring a label updates every card that carries it. Merging two labels moves every card from one onto the other and removes the duplicate, for when “Bug” and “bugs” both exist.
Filtering, sorting and saved views
The Filter button on a board opens one popover rather than a permanent strip of dropdowns. Filter by priority, assignee (including “Unassigned”), label, or state: blocked, overdue, due this week, or not updated in a week. Press f to open it from the keyboard.
Sort changes the order of cards within each list: board order (drag to arrange, the default) or priority, high-to-low or low-to-high. Switching away from board order is what makes priority sort possible — you can't manually drag a card while a priority sort is active.
Saved views are personal filter presets, never shared with the rest of the workspace. Every member starts with a handful already seeded (“My cards”, “Overdue”, and similar), and you can save your own combination of filters under a name and switch between them from the same control as the filter popover.
Working on several cards at once
Select more than one card and a bulk action bar appears at the bottom of the screen. From it you can complete, assign, set priority, apply a label, move to another list, or archive every selected card in one action. Each card is still checked individually against your permissions — selecting a card you can't edit doesn't change that.
Board, calendar and timeline
A project has three layouts over the same cards, switched from the tabs above the board:
| View | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Board | The Kanban columns. Drag a card between lists to change its stage. |
| Calendar | A month grid keyed to due date. Drag a card onto a different day to reschedule it — that's the fastest way to push a whole week of work out by a day. |
| Timeline | A horizontal view for seeing what's coming up across a longer stretch than a month grid comfortably shows. |
The view you're on is saved in the URL, so a link to the calendar view opens on the calendar, not the board.
